Week 8: Tour (Thursday)
Students in both Studio D and C learned more about “making art from feeling” while venturing through the current Chris Martin exhibit spaces in the gallery. Participating in group activities and discussions, campers manipulated paper swatches and found-objects to help interpret and relay their own emotional responses to their favorite pieces. Intertwined within the paintings are feelings tied to memories of people, places and lived experiences that all student campers could appreciate and relate to during the tour.

Week 8: Digital Art (Wednesday)
Studio D campers continued to work through their independent “family crest” projects today, concentrating on meeting their midweek design goals. Using a digital tablet device to wield designs by hand, Isabella Isacco enrich her art with personal symbols that represent her interests, hobbies and family members. Other campers, like Courtney Davis, also take advantage of the lab time and technology by carefully embellishing personal sketches that have long awaited digital makeovers. No matter the level of experience, however, each student continues to learn and become inspired by their peers and teachers.

Week 8: Digital Art (Tuesday)
This morning in the lab, the young digital artist began to open up about their work and creative process while steadily making their way through this week’s project. “You don’t always have to paint to be an artist, ” states Anthony Petrillo who has a special interest in advertisement’s use of graphic arts to promote a product. Neighboring camper, Russell Farrow points out that in compared to more traditional methods of art, new digital art allows one “to change things in a million different ways,” thus the means by which to create art are infinite. No matter, all campers continue to focus and keep pace with the days’ challenges as they move forward into the week.

Week 8: Digital Animation (Monday)
For a first day in the Computer Lab, Studio D campers made an exceptional amount of progress while under the pressure of completing individual studio work. Each student will work at their own pace to complete a personal animated project using the digital illustration computer programming. The motivation to master the technology and conceive a concept into being is balanced well with the exciting sense of accomplishment each step completed brings.

Week 8: Digital Art (Monday)
This intensely focused group of young digital artist began their morning in the Computer Lab learning the basics of how digital illustration is created using computer programs. Using hand drawn sketches of “family crests,” campers practice the tools of the trade. Thus, mastering this creative process requires the mastery of tools that allow for the building of their paper ideas into digital constructs.
